“Someday” by Jaime
DougThe following is a poem written by my wife Jaime. She wrote this poem after our close friends lost their baby in 2003. Little did we know that this poem would now minister to us as well. It’s especially meaningful this week as we remember the hope of the resurrection of Christ.
Someday
I waited for the day when I could rock you in my arms … Someday.
I imagined you with a little backpack going to school … Someday.
I wondered how I’d feel letting you move from home … Someday.
I thought of all the ways you might serve the Lord … Someday.
But the Lord spoke, “Today you will be with me.”
I know you are held in the hand of your Creator today.
I know you sit at the feet of the Master Teacher today.
I know you are with your Father in your eternal home today.
I know you have met the One your soul longs for today.
I know your life has served the Lord’s purpose today.
And I can’t wait to see you again … Someday.
