Views on Harry Potter
Doug
With all the Harry Potter craze, I thought I’d give a few links for Christian parents who are wondering what to make of it. If you’re wanting my view on the books, I must say that I don’t have much room to talk since I have yet to read them. My wife has, but I’ll let her speak for herself perhaps at a different time. If you have an opinion about these books, and especially in relationship to whether or not they would be worthwhile for your kids to read (depending on their age of course) let me know.

- Read “What Would Jonathan Edwards Say About Harry Potter?” (HT: JT)
- Read this post on why some think Harry Potter is based on the story of Jesus in the Gospels

Thanks Zach. I’ll take a lot at these. Do you share the same view as the articles you mentioned?

Zach, I skimmed through the articles and I do agree with the fact that there is great value in knowing our culture and finding bridges from books into people’s lives. If older children desire to read these books I think it is wise for Christian parents to read it with them and discuss it with them modeling for them how to be a discerning, gospel-promoting reader. But, I can respect the parent who decides it’s best for his kids to not read the books as well.
