Doug yesterday I was reading A Path Through Suffering by Elisabeth Elliot she shared this thought from Lilias Trotter, “a lonley sense of what it meant to be buried with Christ- not only dead but buried put to silence in the grave…it being autumn she reflected on the acorns lying on the ground and how they would come to nothing because they were on the ground but not in it. she made a fresh committment to die with Christ, to be a corn or wheat that falls into the ground.
I found it very thought provoking.

Kellie, thanks for writing this. I love the imagery and relating to how Christ said, “Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Those who love their life will lose it, while those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life” (John 12:24-25). I also think of Phil. 3 how Paul wants to fellowship in Christ’s suffering and become like him in his death so to somehow attain to the resurrection of the dead. This is true discipleship and somehow the church has forgotten what it really means to follow Christ. I’m learning as well.

Discipleship is the process of redemption in perfecting the whole follower of Christ with the whole message of Christ
