Missional “Planting” in Suburbia

Planting seeds in suburbia ought not to be a burden but a joyful experience for the whole family. This past weekend I gathered my family together and we took off to Lowe’s to pick up some flowers to plant in our front yard. Little did I know that God had a different kind of planting in store for us that day.

While we worked together to plant the flowers a few of our neighbors stopped by along with their kids. It was a great time to interact with them. In fact, one of our neighbors stayed and talked with us for pretty much the entire afternoon. We were grateful to God for teaching us a little parable about the simplicity of planting seeds in our community. All we need to do is be available and faithful to plant seeds in our neighborhood trusting that over time God will bring the growth.

This picture is adorable. Summer is a great time to meet new neighbors and reconnect with the others. For us planting seeds is as simple as holding hands while walking through the truck stops. The people out here are lonley, some of them miss home, others have no other home but in their truck on the road. We miss our church family but love being together.
Hope to see you soon … Bob and Julie

Great to hear from you Bob and Julie! That’s encouraging to hear how you can plant gospel seeds no matter where you are–even at a truck stop.
