Cultivating Your Child’s Sense of Wonder
Doug
Thomas Carlyle said the great tragedy in life isn’t what we suffer, but what we miss. I don’t want to miss out on being with my kids. So, I’m learning to seize the moment and really be with them in the simple, ordinary, everyday things — like building a snowman right after school! I’m telling you there’s something that happens when we touch and taste (yes we ate the snow!) God’s creation together! As Monte Swan says in his book, Romancing Your Child’s Heart, “when we cultivate our child’s sense of wonder, our own sense of wonder will be stimulated too. We’ll become like children, enjoying again those things that the responsibilities of adulthood have crowded out of our lives.” So take some time this weekend and enjoy being with your kids. You’ll be glad that you did.
